Happy Halloween!!

Bzzzzzzzzzzzz!!

That is the sound we just could not get Noah J to say tonight. And he also wouldn't say trick or treat. But he got candy anyways - I call that talent! :)

We had fun tonight. Josh, Kelly, and Adeline came over for dinner and then we took the kiddos trick-or-treating. Both Noah and Adeline were slightly upset about having to put on the costumes, but once we got outside they both behaved like old pros. They walked right up to people's front doors holding their little candy buckets. They were so cute! The funny thing was that they kept trying to go inside people's houses - as soon as the door opened they were trying to get inside!

After about 8 or so houses Noah J was just too tired to make it any further. So we came home and said bye to Adeline. Then Grandma and Grandpa came over and brought him some special Halloween treats - including a book about monsters!! Everytime the doorbell rang he was SOOO excited and ran straight to the door to see who it was. Obviously he sobbed and cried when it was time for bed, but then zonked right out as soon as he hit the mattress.

It was a great first trick-or-treating trip!

Blogger isn't letting me upload more pics, so I will add them tomorrow!

Pumpkins!!

So we finally took Noah J to go see all the pumpkins at the church. Everytime we drive by he points out of the window and says "ooooo, ooooo, ooooo, oooo!" until you acknowledge that yes, those are pumpkins.

We were waiting for a perfect weather day, which we didn't get, but it was good enough - at least he wasn't sweating in his shirt! He was very excited to run around, and really loved running in the trailer that they had set up. He was also extremely excited by the corn - he just didn't understand why he couldn't eat it! He was not really sure what to think of the scarecrows - he smiled at first, but then was perhaps a little scared of them!

We ended up taking 2 home - one for Daddy to carve and a smaller one for the baby to carry around. Maybe now we won't have to spend half our day in the neighbor's yard looking at their pumpkins!

New Shoes!

Noah J got to wear some new shoes this week! They've been sitting in his closet for months now, but were too big to wear. Or so I thought! They were a half size bigger than his other shoes so we were waiting. Well, I could barely get his feet in them! Its not the length - its the height! He has my potato feet! I don't think there's much cuter than these shoes - he looks like such a big boy!

Sorry for the bad pictures - the kid wouldn't stand still!!!

My manly men!

Josh came home with a flat last night, so this morning he had to go out and put the spare on so we could take it to get fixed. Of course, Noah J just HAD to help! They were so cute I had to snap a picture!

Our doughnut lover!!

So I know I'm not gonna win the Healthy Mother of The Year Award or anything, but I made my boys some homemade doughnuts this morning. I saw the recipe in a magazine yesterday and just had to try my hand at it. I didn't have a tiny round cookie cutter, so I used a teeny tiny star instead. Noah J was thrilled to death with the little donut holes, and you know that just made my day! :) Now how to get him to go back to Rice Crispies for breakfast.....

My almost good napper!

I've been SO excited these last two days, cause Noah J has surprisingly slept for over 2- 1/2 hours for each of his naps!! The first day I kept thinking he was gonna wake up any minute so I didn't take one myself. But yesterday I laid down a little bit after him and I got to take a 2 hour nap!!!!!!! It was glorious! SO today I was planning the same thing, but that darn bugger only slept for 1-1/2 hours! And I waited an hour to lay down, so I only got a measly half hour nap! Grrrr!

More pics from Kemah and Moody Gardens! Looking at these pictures I'm so stressed the boy is wearing baby blue shorts and a bright blue shirt. I didn't expect him to fall into the ocean and these were the only extra shorts that I had!

And FYI - don't ride the carousel at Kemah if you get motion sickness! I SO thought I was gonna puke - and I sat in this stationary little buggy type thing on it! It was like the world's fastest carousel!

Our talking machine!

Much to our relief, little Noah J has finally started saying some words!!! We are very excited cause we kind of set this 18 month deadline before we started taking him to see the speech therapist. Now it looks like we don't have to worry about that!

He started with the word "fish" a few weeks ago. The best part is that he will actually say it if I ask him to. You know he is extremely hard headed and when we ask him to do something (that we know he can do) he usually just looks at us and laughs. Don't get me wrong - there are still TONS of times that he chooses not to say something!

He has also said "Grandpa." Can you even believe that? He's also finally saying "mama' sometimes. And "ruff ruff" for the puppy dog. He also said "apple" and the absolute best one is "love you." We're very excited!!

The pic is from Moody Gardens - he really wasn't too sure about puting his hand into the water to touch the starfish. But his daddy got him to do it!

Galveston, Moody Gardens, and Kemah!

So I guess it was 2 weeks ago now that Josh's relatives came down from Kentucky to visit. They wanted to go to Galveston so Noah J got another trip to see the ocean!

He was a holy terror all the way there, but liked running around in the sand again. He even stood in the water for just a minute until the tide came in and he got scared and tried to run away. Obviously he couldn't run in the almost knee deep water so he fell and then had to cry. So within about 2 minutes of getting there we already had to take off his soaking wet shorts! The 2nd picture is of him crying and pointing to that mean old ocean that got him!

The crazy thing is that the water was just beautiful - it was this gorgeous green color instead of the nasty brown that is so common to Galveston. We had never seen it that way before! And the water was actually cool - last time we went the water temp was in the upper 80's - it barely felt better than just sitting in the sun!

After our brief visit to the beach we decided to go to Moody Gardens where we toured the aquarium and the Rainforest pyramid. Since Noah loves fish so much he had a grand time. The nice part about it is that unlike at the zoo where there are all kinds of things he can get into, since this was indoors he could pretty much just run where be pleased (at least in the aquarium). It was really neat - we had only been to the rainforest part before.

After our tour we drove out to Kemah to have lunch. We ate at Landry's and it was delcious, and afterwards Noah got to play on the boardwalk. He even had his first carousel ride! We're not really sure if he liked it or not - but at least he didn't cry!

NOTE: Blogger won't let me upload anymore pics, so I'll put the rest up later!

Something smells delicious in the bathroom!

Like I always do, when I went to the mall this week I let Noah J play on the playground in front of the Sears. He fell asleep in the car on the way home, and slept for a bit in his crib when we got back. When he woke up we discovered all over his stomach and pants he was covered in chewing gum!!!!!!!! And it was seriously stuck to him. We COULD NOT get it off.

So we decided that if peanut butter gets gum out of hair, why not off skin? So we stripped him down and slathered him with some. And of course he thought this was hysterical and immediately rubbed his hands in it and then rubbed his face. And after this whole mess it didn't even work! Baby oil did, though!

The bathroom smelled quite delicious for days!

The zoo again!

NOTE: I've been trying to upload these pics for weeks now! Sorry this post is so old!!

We were thinking it was about time to take Noah J to the zoo again, and since Josh's vacation started this weekend we decided to go today. We had extra fun cause Aaron, Christy, Joseph, and Christy's sister Brenda got to come have fun too!

Once again, instead of being interested in the animals, Noah was mostly interested in pushing the stroller around. He did really like petting the goats, which we didn't let him do last time. He picked one goat as his favorite and then followed it around the whole time. He even gave the goat a hug!!

He really liked the fish in the aquariums again. But of course he wouldn't say fish for us. He was kinda in a bad mood, but I think it was cause it was SO hot out. He got his first taste of Cherry Icee which he found to be pleasingly delicious!

On the way out he found this rubber snake in the gift shop that he instantly became attached to, so he got to bring it home. He really likes to bite its head!! We had lots of fun but look forward to going again when its a bit cooler!

Lost Maples!!

So Noah J had his first
Lost Maples trip this weekend! It is a family tradition to go camping there every fall, but we haven't been in a few years so we were itching for a chance to go and have a picnic. So we convinced G&G to take this baby for 5 hours (ONE WAY!!) just to have lunch and then come back home.

Noah J had so much fun!!!!! He was even shockingly good in the car. We left at 5:00 in the morning, so Noah was completely confused. We just swept him out of his crib and straight to the car thinking he would go back to sleep. Yeah right! He stayed up for close to 2 hours before he zonked out. We stopped a few times to let him out to run around and he did SO good. Of course then he fell asleep again 5 minutes before we pulled into the park, so he was a smidgen grumpy for the picnic.

We walked a little bit onto the Maple Trail and he did not like it at all! He couldn't walk that well on the steep hills and cried and cried for Grandma to hold him. My poor Mom had to carry him the whole time on the trail cause he refused everybody else. But once we were out of the woods he was fine. He really enjoyed picking up rocks and throwing them into the creek. He REALLY wanted to just get right into the water.

Then we had our picnic and Noah J had his first Cheeto!! Needless to say, he loved it. Thats what the close up pic is - you can't see the Cheeto hidden in his hand cause he was gripping it so tightly! He ran and played in the field by the picnic table with his stroller, which obviously made his day.

The trip home wasn't as pleasant, cause he refused to nap! But I did get to read The Cat In The Hat over and over again. Fun!!! But we did stop at Medina, the apple capitol of Texas, and had some delicious apple ice cream at Love Creek Orchards. Not surprisingly, Noah J gobbled it up! The ice cream was worth the trip alone!

Overall, we were really proud of him cause he was super well behaved. Do we want to take him camping soon????? Probably not, but we did see that when we do take him he will have a great time!
